The following article describes activities by Jared Taylor in France and England earlier this year.  Taylor is not unknown to regular readers of www.IREHR.org.  He is the founder of a scientific racist outfit known as American Renaissance, has been a leading figure in the ranks of the Council of Conservative Citizens and an editor for other white nationalist enterprises.  Leonard Zeskind’s book, Blood and Politics: The History of the White Nationalist Movement from the Margins to the Mainstream, available from IREHR, includes the first and most comprehensive treatment of Taylor—including his friendship with Holocaust denier Mark Weber, his stint as the West Coast editor of PC magazine, and a description of American Renaissance’s first conferences.  The following is taken from an article in Searchlight magazine by Ray Mount.  IREHR congratulates Searchlight for nearly 50 years of monthly anti-fascist and anti-racist publication. Leonard Zeskind added to Ray Mount’s reporting, using material from other sources.

The Trans-Atlantic Traffic in White Nationalism

On April 13, in Paris, France, American Renaissance boss Jared Taylor addressed a conference organized by The Institute of Geopolitics Populations and the group Nationalist Citizenship and Identity, entitled, “Immigration and Elections: Can the Right Still Win.”  Taylor used population data and polling results to conclude: “As immigration expands the non-white vote, the prospects for “conservatives” dwindle.”   Taylor walked away from the meeting impressed with his French colleagues’ ability to pull off a “mainstream” event, open to the public and unhindered by protests.

jared Taylor in ParisTaylor, who speaks French, also reported that he did a small group meeting in Brittany, and was interviewed by a French nationalist broadcaster.

On April 18, Jared Taylor spoke at a meeting of the Bloomsbury Forum in London, which had been most active during the years 1996-2000. It was a discussion group that drew support from the fringes of the Conservative Party (Tories) as well as members of the white-ist British National Party.  In an attempt to redraw the intellectual landscape of the British far right, the Bloomsbury Forum issued a book entitled Standardbearers, and had Jean-Marie Le Pen from the French National Front speak at its meetings.  Its original chairman, Adrian Davies, a barrister, unsuccessfully defended Holocaust denier David Irving at the Court of Appeal in 2001 after Irving failed in a libel suit against American author Deborah Lipstadt.  In 2007, Davies also failed to attain a libel judgment against Searchlight

And it was Davies who chaired the Bloomsbury Forum meeting for Jared Taylor in a London hotel with walking distance of the Thames River.  The 45 attendees included a few open national socialists (neo-Nazis), who passed around a Hitler-era pamphlet translated from the original German. And the biggest bloc was from the National Front.

Taylor re-mixed the standard stump speech he gives in the USA: He claimed that “within 100 years the United States would have gone from being a European country to one dominated by Mexicans.” He also made his oft-stated claims about the intelligence on people of African descent.  And he advocated “the establishment of a homeland for our people,” meaning whites.  As usual, he disregarded the fact that the United States of America has never been a white or European country, even during the period that white people had an exclusive hold on political power. While he uses the election of President Barack Obama as evidence of his assertion that, “the United States isn’t our country, and the US government isn’t our government,” he ignores the continuing discrimination against people of color.  Apparently, Jared Taylor cannot keep two thoughts in his head at the same time.

Jared Taylor will in all probability be back to Britain and Continental Europe sometime in the future, just as he usually invites Europeans to present at his American Renaissance conferences, like the one held most recently in Tennessee.  The trans-Atlantic traffic in white supremacy is as old as the slave trade and as recent as the multiple communications between anti-Semites and white nationalists in Germany, France, the UK, etc. with their American counterparts here. It is all ugly, and IREHR will continue to expose it, report on its nuances and analyze these trends.
