On September 28, IREHR’s Devin Burghart held a training on researching the far-right with members of the Whatcom Civil Rights Project at the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center in Bellingham, Washington.

On October 7, Devin again travelled to Bellingham to deliver a talk on “The Threat of White Nationalism in ‘Post-Racial’ America,” for the Center for Law, Diversity & Justice at Fairhaven College. The packed room of attendees included Fairhaven College students, political science students from Western Washington University, and members of the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force (of which Devin was a founding board member).  More about the event can be found in the WWU newspaper, The Western Front. See “Alumnus Discusses Racism in America.”

On October 9, Devin recorded an interview with Speak Up! Speak Out! Radio, a half-hour weekly, locally-produced radio show committed to community, peace, justice, and non-violence issues that airs on stations in Mount Vernon, Hamilton, Friday Harbor, and Whatcom County. The show “Facets of White Nationalism” will first air on October 15. See http://www.speakupspeakoutradio.org/ for more details.
