On July 19, IREHR vice president Devin Burghart, IREHR board member Leah Henry-Tanner, and IREHR advisory board member Chuck Tanner were in Portland, Oregon for the “Activists Mobilizing for Power” conference put on by the Western States Center.

Despite the sweltering heat, the Chief Joseph room at Portland State University’s Native America Student Community Center was full of talented, engaged activists from around the region eager to learn how to fight the right. The day-long session, “Know Your Opposition,” focused on the Tea Party movement and attacks on treaty rights and tribal sovereignty, and how to fight back.
