On December 10, IREHR joined the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force, the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center, and Amnesty International in an event celebrating both the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force and Human Rights Day.  IREHR’s Devin Burghart, a founding member of the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force, delivered a keynote address entitled “The More Things Change… Celebrating Twenty Years of the Whatcom Human Rights Task Force and Looking Ahead to Future Challenges” to a crowd of approximately fifty participants, including many of the other founding members of the task force. The evening was capped off with a moving candlelight remembrance of those lost to human rights abuses.
