FAIR's Donor Base Continues To Shrivel Featured

Federation for American Immigration Reform's Dan Stein
The membership base of the oldest and arguably most influential nativist group in the country, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), continues to shrink, according to recently released data obtained by IREHR.
As of July 3, 2012, the total number of FAIR's donors for the last 24 months has dropped again to 13,557, according to the direct mail list broker NextMark, Inc. The new data also shows that the number of FAIR donors for the last 12 months declined to just 6,701.
In the IREHR Special Report, Beyond Fair: The Decline of the Established Anti-Immigrant Organizations and the Rise of Tea Party Nativism, we noted that the donor base of the Federation for American Immigration Reform declined to from a high in 2007 of 45,000 to 18,848 in 2011--a decrease of 58%.
The current 2012 figure of 13,557 donors represents a 69.87% drop from the 2007 high, and a decline of 28% from last year. IRS 990 forms for 2011 and 2012 are not yet available to see if the decline in donors has negatively impacted the organization's bottom line.
